August 21 - August 26

Saturday August, 21
Took a day off in the hotel. Washed up the bikes and the bags. Called some
people and watched some t.v.

Sunday August, 22
Finally out of the motel and back on the road. Today was pretty normal with nothing really special besides some great beach viewing and mostly relaxing. HAd a great spot next to the beach(not on it but close enough to hear the waves). We even got a restaruant across the street which we had dinner at.

Monday August, 23
Woke up next to the beach and it was actually sunny today. Of course thats all fine and dandy until you find out that
the western sun doesnt just look and feel good but will roast you if you dont take heed of it. We had a great morning due to
the nice bakery next door, they didn't have doughnuts but they did have muffins. After that though the day went to crap.
Santa cruz took our beautiful highway 1 and forced us off and turned it into a freeway. We not only went into a big circle around
town but we had to be forced off the freeway by a cop becuase it was the only way out of town as we knew. Eventually though
we made it out of there and back to the bike path which lasted us a few good miles until we lost it in downtown santa cruz.
This time we had to ride the freeway until it switched back into a highway. Luckily we didn't get cuaght this time. A few
more miles up the road and we headed through monterey california were, yet again, forced off the highway and back ontu the
chaotic streets of monterey. We met some cool people there who told us the rest of the road was all good for a long time after
monterey. We checked out the old fishermans wharf in monterey and had our very first chowder bread bowl there. After that we headed up through the
17 mile cut-off through monterey and back ontu highway 1 were it becomes legal to get back on. After monterey we was able to find a nice
beach off of the road that also had other campers staying there too so we watched the sun go down and and set up tent on top of the sand.

Tuesday August, 24
Well, The rangers finally cuaght us camping after 60 days or so. He didnt run our I.D's and was very nice to us. Thankfully
he understood that we was bikers and had to get out of the way and let the drunk drivers back home. After that he left us and went to
go check on the other campers along the beach and we headed off to the Infamous Big Sur. We reached the Carmel highlands gas station and
as we bought some doughnuts all that you saw was mercedes, mustangs and porsches. After that we started to go through the rough
big sur mountains and golly was it hot. hotest day on the coast so far at a whopping 90 degrees. Hasnt been this hot since
the reverse days in Alaska were it got 90 degrees. But we finally reached a restaruant and ordred us some chili dogs and rested for a while and then made it
up to the post office where we finally received what might be the last package to be recieved on this trip. Tina sent us some
reeces peices, gum and peanut butter. After resting at the post office(Did I mention it was hot?) We was able to make it to the town of Lucia were
we wass able to get some dinner(cookies, brownies and cokes) and the the cashier lady was really cool and even suggested a cool campspot for us to stay at.
So we took her up on her offer and stayed on the patio down behind the restaruant a few feet away. We tried to stay hidden but the
mosquitos were so bad and the temperature was so hot that we had to bring out the tent and slept in there.

wednesday August, 25
Last night could have been better but hey I dont want to bore you with my complaining so lets get on with it. Got
up at 7 or so due to we didn't want to get kicked out by the boss. Went inside the shop and grabbed some cokes and boiled eggs
that they had for sell in the fridge. After enjoying some coke and eggs we set out for san simeon beach. There was a stop
before tsan simeon so we grabbed some breakfast at the cafe there and headed back out. Met Some a really nice guy who let us look at his adventure cycling
maps to help us get through las angelos and through all the other areas that highway 1 turns into a free way and we cant ride on it.
After that he left us and shortly after we headed off and finally reached San simeon were we grabbed some snacks and gatorade.
Then we kept on riding and riding until we reached the end of the town of Cambria were we ate at the most delicious mexican resteruant
called ((ENTER NAME HERE)). The food was so Authentic tasting and the waiter was the nicest person you could be waited by.
Plus we actually got filled up thanks to the four tacos and side of rice we ordered. Afterwards we said good-bye to the waiter
and headed off a few more miles were we found a spot to camp along the beach. In total we was able to get a whopping 60
miles in today which willl definatly help recover those miles lost in santa cruz and monteray.

Thursday August, 26
Woke up to a army invading our tent. We left the door open on the tent to let it cool down and some ants decided to
work their way inside. Luckily they wern't biting ants so not many bites were received. Got up and thousands were in our front
bags trying to get into our snacks. But we was able to knock off most. Afterwards we headed off to the next little town were
we ordered some doughnuts and coffee and went out along this giant pier were we met a mom and duaghter walking down the pier.
The mom was really curious about the bike trip and asked us alot of questions and we gladly answered them all. Afterwards
we took their picture and sayed good-bye as we walked on downtowards the end of the pier and ate our doughnuts and fed some
seagulls. When we got back we met a large group of bikers who were enjoying some morning breakfast. We talked with them for
about 20 minutes and got some info on the road ahead. They really enjoyed talking with my dad and they even called some
bike stores for us to see if they had any L.A bike maps for us but of course they didn't. So we headed back out and Today
was mainly just a calm very easy riding. Nothing really interesting happened until the end were we found a amtrak train
station were we slept inside. The ground is cold and unfortunatly the lights arn't going to turn off anytime soon so Ill see
how it goes.
