june 27- July 1

Sunday june, 27
Woke up very tired this morning. It must have been the bed i slept on being so comfertable. Dad woke me up and told
me "better get up, she's cooking breakfast". So i got dressed and walked upstairs. She had made scrambled eggs and raison
toast. After eating, we said good-bye and headed out into the rain. After leaving the neighborhood we ran for the nearest
mcdonalds to wait out the rain. We grabbed a medium drink and I got on the laptop to work on the blog(yes it is a job
becuase every day you have to do a new one) dad was trying 2 find a church to go too.Didnt't have any luck. While I was
was working on the blog, Two girls came in and sat down and started talking to a boy(he worked there but he got out of uniform
becuase he was on break). Eventually after a few minutes of talking they handed Dad a business card and asked him "would you
like to come to church today?". Wow, how the Lord works. Of course we sayed yes so the girls told us to follow them on their
bikes(sweet, more people on bikes) to their church. We reached the church and they opened the door to the garage so we all
could put our bikes in there without worry. After locking up the bikes with our bike lock we headed inside where everyone was
already praying(sorry, didnt mean to interupt anything) so we went ahead and sat down. After pray they jumped into singing
which took about a quick 30 minutes or so(it seemed like it lasted forever) and then then church finally went into progress.
What they tuaght us was the section in the bible on "loving thine enemy" and how you should bless, love, do goood for, and
pray for thine enemy. I know what your thinking "there is no way im doing that" but hey its in the bible so I'm going to do
it. Afterwords the preacher asked everyone to come up to the podium and "raise your hands to god" and he put touched oil to
our foreheads(im really not sure why but ill go along with it, I thought it was pretty cool). The two sisters(the girls that
sat down behind us. Also their names are Tiffany and Vanessa) went up also(not everyone went up to the podim surprisingly)
and the preacher tould them "If you keep the Lord in your heart he will make sure that your trip will get funded for". Of
course I had to know what trip they was going on becuase anyone who knows me knows that im a curious person. After church
I asked them what trip they was going on and they told me that they was going to Washington. I told them that we was going to
pass through washington and hopefully we could meet up again. I was able to get Vanessa's e-mail so we could stay in touch
(she said she was going to make a facebook so we could stay in touch better. SWEET!) We then saw a pizza hut down the street
and asked the girls if they wanted to join us for lunch. They said yes(Awesomeness) so we all rode over there and hung out.
After eating, talking together, taking pictures and letting the girls make a movie message for us(which I watch just about
everyday becuase it shows everyone having a goodtime) they said good-bye and waved and as they rode of into the distance leaving
us lonely yet again. After packing back up we was able to meet a honorably discharged soldier who actually worked at the pizza
hut. He told us how he smashed up his legs in a halo jump gone wrong(which is what got him a honorable discharge) and that
he was a army special forces soldier who worked in a 6 man group in iraq and told us about his story of when his group was
hit by a rpg ambush. I really dont want to tell the story in the blog but he is very lucky to be alive. After that we sayed
good-bye and went back on the road(now is the time to play the song "On the Road Again") After a quick stop by a train museum
(had a giant snow plow train which looked like something out of a horror movie) we rode for about 37 miles too portage. We was able to catch a bike trail along the way
which helped out alot. It ended as soon as we reached a gas station unfortunatly but there was some good eating at the local
shops around the area. Escpecially this bakery which had some of the best baked goods you can buy. We had a giant doughnut thing
which dad ordered(he sayed it was called a "apple fitter". After eating, Dad found a campsite behind the gas station which
means a nice breakfast in the morning. So we set up tent, jumped in and fell asleep.

Monday June, 28
I woke up to find Dad long gone. I got up and put up the tent, sleeping bags, and mats all by myself. I then walked my
bike over to the gas station and found his next to the bakeery(of course) and i put my bike next to his. He was drinking coffee
as I walked in and looked at all the baked goods i ordered two doughnuts and Dad ordered a giant foot-long bean burrito. After
eating we were off again. After a few miles of riding We ran into a family of bald eagles down on this tiny beach off the road.
We took plenty of pictures and even took pictures of the Bore tide(there is only 2 in the world and 1 is in the cook inlet in
the turnikan arm which is what we was just biking through). Dad also took a picture of a seal(i didn't see it). After riding
a few more miles we rode into Portage. The last stop before whittier was quite small. Only a train station which sold soda's
and candybar's for a dollar and played a awesome dvd about the glaciers around whittier. We stayed there for a while, mainly
drinking the soda to recharge our bodies and then we headed back out. It wasn't to much longer when we reached the "whittier
tunnel" which meant we had to get off of our bikes and hitchhike through it. After about 15 minutes of waiting a plumbing
truck picked us up(Jim was his name) and carried us through the tunnel. Thank you Jim. He even showed us where we could
camp, restruants that wern't tourist traps, grocery stores and the hotels in the area. He dropped us off and we took a picture
of him and said good-bye. After that we went off to the nearest restruant and grabbed a bite to eat. Turns out they also had
wi-fi so we was able to contact Tina and update the blog. Tina told us that about the condos down the street and that they
had rooms for 85 dollars. The restaruant also had rooms upstairs so we asked if we could get a discount for being bicyclists.
The managar said "yeah well work something out. Took him 2 hours to finally tell us that he could get us a room for 80 dollars
but we would have to wait 30 minutes for the room to be ready. Dad told him that he was going to check out the rooms down
the street reall quick becuase they was only 85 dollars and he was really tired. So the managar said okay and we headed down
to the condos down the street. When we got to the room it was horrible. It smelled like an old boiler room, had no working
television, and didnt even have a reall bed but more like a futon style of thing. So we sayed no and walked back out into
the rain and to avoid looking stupid to the manager at the resteruant we ate at, we just decided to sleep inside this cozy looking
pavilion that was right up the street. When we got there we moved the benches around so we wouldnt be to easily seen from
the road and we layed down the tent tarp so we would be on the dirty, rocky floor. After laying down for a few mintutes we
had to throw the tent netting over our face becuase the mosquitos were so bad. After that though we was able to fall asleep.

tuesday June, 29
I woke up and Dad was gone again(what woke me up was two people eating breakfast in front of where i was laying down
at. I had to pee bad too but I didnt want to disturb them). Again, I packed up but this time I waited for him to get back
becuaseI didnt want to drag 2 bikes around town. He finally came back and was surprised that I was awake and packed up
already. He told me "Hey, I got us a room down the street and breakfast only lasts for 40 more minutes so lets hurry up".
We biked down to the hotel room and sneaked the bikes up into the rooms. After words we fast walked over to the resteruant
(the same one we ate at yesterday) and ordered breakfast(I had the tall order(3) of pancakes) and watched the movie
"Deathrace" before heading back. When we got back Dad decided we should wash our bikes in the bathtub. After we got done
the bottom of the tub was so nasty and black that I thought that we would never be able to clean it. But sure enough Dad was
able to sneak a bottle of orange 409 out of the janitors closet and it literally just cut the grease right off of the tub.
It was a miracle potion. After that we relaxed all day, washed clothes, called freinds and family on skype and then went to
bed.

Wednesday June, 30
Today I was up around 9 o' clock and we went over to the resteruant(Anchor inn is the name) and got some breakfast(tall stack again. YUM!)
After that we went off to the docks to wait for the ferry. While there we met a man named Thilo(from Germany but spoke great
english) who was heading to seattle and then riding down into las angelos. After talking to him the ferry arrived and we
sayed good-bye and boarded the ferry. We had to tie-up our bikes to some barrels and after that we headed upstairs. It was
a pretty nice ferry actually. Had a cafteria, a nice, quiet room with a giant tv on it, a big room with huge windows for veiwing
and of course the upstairs balcany. After the boat started moving and we settled down I took a nap on the floor in between the
seats(3 other people were sleeping too). After waking I found dad in the veiwing area. After sitting and watching the sea we
went upstairs to the balcany and stayed there for a little while. We finally arrived on cordova and we saw the coolest
black snails. We almost missed the ferry looking at them too. After getting back on the ferry we headed over to valdez.
During the trip we saw sea otters, whales and Dall porpoise. When it reached about 11L30 people started to lay down and go to sleep on the floor. Sure
enough i joined them and the ship turned off the lights. At 1:30 or so the load buzz of the intercom came on and told every
that we had 30 minutes to arrive in Valdez. Scared me a little too but I layed there for 10 minutes before getting up and
getting ready. When Dad was up i swear he was so excited he probably could have done some handstand push up right there.
When we docked We untied our bikes and headed out ontu Valdez where we found a weird pringles chip shaped canopy over two
benches so we decided to crash there for the night. We even saw the end of the 800 mile alaska pipeline.

Thursday July, 1
we woke up at 8:30 and got the bikes ready. A lady named Darna came by and hung out with us and took pictures of us.
After that we biked over to the resteruant caleed "Totem inn". That place was awesome. great eating and very cheap prices.
I again had the triple stack and dad had eggs, toast and hashbrowns. after eating we headed out of valdez and and saw a
brown weiner dog that look like my dog as a puppy. After that we met another biker whose name was Hennie who was
doing a circle from anchorage to valdez(or I think that is what he was doing) and we took his picture and said good-bye.
After that we took what was the hardest climb of the trip so far. It was a uphill climb for 7 miles(the one out of fairbanks
was only 5 miles long) which was called Thompson pass. During this climb we met another biker who lived in Valdez and did this climb everynow and then.
Of course he had no gear on so after talking to us he blew us away. We finally reached the top and when we got there we saw
the most beautiful glacier ever. It was massive and was only a mile away from the road. It was so beautiful i could have
looked at it all day and not get bored. But we had to get the heck off of that cold, windy mountain so we kept on going.
We road a total of 55 miles for today and we found a great campspot off of the road and meet a guy named phil who was
staying in a giant RV next to us. He told us he would bring us coffee and breakfast in the morning before he went back inside
which was really cool. After saying goodnight we fell asleep in our tent.
