Update:
It turns out that we left the wire that transferred pictures over from out camera to our laptop.
sorry I haven't posted any pictures but this is the reason.
Tina is going to send the wire to a town ahead of us so we can pick it up there.
Please don't eat us.
Update
Before we left the hostel we put the pictures and movies unto our external hard drive
so i can put those on here for you guys.
On with the story
The taxi dropped us off and we put all of our stuff at the door and told the driver good bye. We left our stuff at the door and went inside really quick to find out where we would sleep. Inside there was a giant picnic table in the dining room area with 1 person on a laptop doing who knows what. There was a couch and a nice recliner which there was people sleeping in both of them and another guy who was just walking out of there. we asked the guy walking out of the dining room on were the sleeping area was and he said they was upstairs(which we found was behind a door in the dining room). There was a small living room with a desktop computer for people without laptops which no one was in so we stashed the giant bike boxes in there and took the 4 bags we had with us upstairs. Sure enough we found a room that was empty that had a bunk bed in it that we could both stay in. After making the beds(the sheets and pillow covers were on the ends of both beds) I knew I had to find a shower due to a whole day of plane rides and fast walking around. After finding the one bathroom in the whole 2 story house(it was in the kitchen) I turned the shower on and ran back to get my towel i left on the sink and the water knob fell off(just my luck) but luckily it went back on easily. After the refreshing shower I shaved in the mirror, brushed my teeth and washed my face and went back up to the bedroom were I found my dad laying in the bottom bed relaxing so i just climbed into the top bed and went to sleep.
Dad woke me up moving around(I'm not sure what time). Of course the stairs were very creaky so I'm sure how I'm pretty sure i woke somebody up upstairs(by the way there was 2 sets of bunk beds and a couch in the main room upstairs which 2 or 3 people was staying in). Downstairs(and to my surprise) 2 girls, and 1 guy was on laptops already in the dining room and and 2 guys reading in the dining room too. My dad was talking to the guy on the couch. When he saw me he said "i put the bikes together already we just gotta pack up". "Dang already" I said as i walked into the living room and found both bikes already standing up with all the bike bags on them and everything. After that the fun was over and we spent the next 1 to 2 hours packing them up. After that task was over we really needed food to eat(due to you gotta cook your own stuff there(one guy even made steak and eggs(a whole steak too and he ate it right in front of me. I was so jealous)). I looked up some restaurants near our location and really didn't find any good ones so we decided to just take our bikes around town and find something to eat. Also we went decided to go find a wells Fargo which was right down the road and and pull out some cash. We found a restaurant called "sourdough cafe" and went in. The prices were ridiculously high($10.00 for a sandwich) but they had a $7.00 burger so dad and I both got one along with a sweet tea and a root beer. After we ate we decided to go grab the cash at the wells Fargo ATM and head back. As we came back a few people was watching the move "live free or die hard" so decided to join them. During the movie Billie(the lady who owns the hostel) made us some fresh homemade bread for us. She brought that giant loaf of bread in there and my mouth just started
watering. I let everyone grab a bite before i got mine(still steaming and hot. delicious) and bit into that slice boy was it good. I tried to find dad but i couldn't so i just went back and watch the rest of the movie. After it was over dad came in and asked if i wanted to go for a walk. I said sure why not and found out we was being lead to the university up the street by a man named Frank. turns out frank also did the whole Appalachian trail and has been coming into billies hostel
since the 70's. We walked about 2 miles up to a scenic outlook at the university that showed a gorgeous view of a mountain range. After the sight seeing we went back to the hostel and me and dad went back to the bedroom. Dad passed out on the bed and I went on facebook and updated the blog. I was able to talk to my Friend Mathew and my cousin Leanna. Plus i was able to watch some YouTube which really made my day. I was doing my best not to laugh and wake up my dad as i was watching a funny video i haven't watched yet. Soon enough though i jumped up into my bed and fell asleep.
Today i woke up around 6 o' clock. I went downstairs and found another loaf of freshly made bread so i grabbed myself a huge slice for a quick breakfast. after that i jumped into the shower real quick(and brushed my teeth, etc.) and afterwords i listened to the radio and layed down on the giant picnic table. We was waiting on a man to wake up because he said he would take us to the north pole but it turns out he wasn't coming back to the hostel so we just headed out on the bikes. We walked outside and said goodbye to everyone including Billie, Frank, Aurthur and Joel. We biked for about 10 miles till we reached what was supposed to be our first town but turned out it barely even existed. Luckily there was a volunteer fire department there so we could fill up our water bottles with fresh, clean water. We asked the guy there(being the only one there) how long till another store and he told us that there wasn't another store till 50 miles up the mountain. Oh boy i thought as we hadn't planned for this. So kept on going and sure enough we had a 5 mile uphill. during this hill a Oriental lady stopped and gave us some rice and a weird food that I'm still not sure what it is but it tastes good. After riding a little longer and seeing
some great views we meet another biker named Kim(its a guy biker). he said that after the 50 miles and reaching the next town that the road would finally level out for us. Great news for me. After riding a total of 29 miles we run into skinny dick's bar. We ride up the drive-way and are greeted by 2 girls and a guy. the guy said that the road levels out from the bar but hes not fooling me. You can say that easily in a car. They left though before we could even get inside the bar which kinda sucks because there was a that was in the group i would have loved to talked too. As we walked in i could definitely tell it was a 18 and older place. They have all these adult humor stickers laying around, dollar bills stapled all over the ceiling with notes wrote on them. Other things were in there too but that's not for the blog . There was one lady working there and she told us the the original owner had a big history about him. He married a Eskimo girl and started the bar 30 or so years ago. His name was Richard but the nicknamed him skinny(thus the name skinny dick's bar). He passed away 3 years ago and was buried with his wife in a tribal cemetery(had to be a member of the tribe to be buried there) and he even had hell's angels
join his funeral. They sold beer for 2 dollars and had a great deal on soda being only 1 dollar for a cup and you get free refills. We were able to sleep behind the bar in this fenced in lounging area. Dad set up the tent but passed out on the swing were i took advantage off this and took over the tent and the giant blue mat. This is the first night i get to sleep in my sleeping bag and man does it feel good. so nice and warm and it completely blocks out the wind. Dad came inside the tent 30 minutes after i got in here due to the fact that the wind really blows hard up here on top of the mountain. Well I'm heading to bed now and ill talk to you guys later.
